American Idol

Tucker and I like to talk to each other about out day as we drive home. I ask about his day and then he asks about my day. Most often, I share what a great day I have had, but it has been a hard week this week. One of those weeks, where you are only at your desk about an hour total and otherwise are in meetings in various buildings all over the district. I have also been interviewing for a new tech facilitator. We had some great applicants which also makes for very tough choices.
So today was the day that I made a final decision for the new hire and offered the applicant the job. I was explaining the process Tucker and that I had to call some of the other applicants and tell them that they were not the "chosen one." This always makes me feel bad and I really hate that part of my job! I was telling Tucker that one person gets the job and four others have to be told that they didn't get the job. Tucker listened intently and asked questions. After a few moments of silence, he says, "You know, that is like American Idol. You have a winner and everyone else gets voted off ." I told him yes, but I was ALOT nicer than Simon.
