Dad loves to make homemade authentic food. He has been known to make his own sausage, picante sauce and sauerkraut. For a few years now, we have been trying to figure out how to make tamales. We have made our own fair share of tamales, but we it is still a work in progress. Each year, we seem to learn something else that makes them even better. This year, we had some family over to the lake house to make more tamales. We had pork. Kyle and Amy brought over chicken. We then started the assembly line. Kyle and I put the masa on the cornhusk while Dad and Amy stuffed the tamale and rolled it up. Mom was in charge of the steaming. It is a long process to put everything together and I am begining to think that buying them would be the best, but it was fun to be with some of our family and work on this project together. I think that we finally finished with 12 dozen tamales completed. We did a few little taste tests, but we didn't get to really enjoy them until the next day when we got together for our Christmas party.
