Graduation Dinner Celebration

After graduation, we took Tucker out to eat. John invited a few of his high school kids that he and Tucker have gone fishing and/or golfing with to help us celebrate. It was a really nice evening, so we decided to eat outside on the deck overlooking the lake. Tucker loves hanging out with the "big boys" and they are great with him. The food was good and I even got a little crazy and let Tucker have a Dr.Pepper to drink!
While we were there, a couple of girls from his class also showed up with their families. Here are pictures of them hanging out together. They decided that they wanted to get their own table a few tables away from ours so that they could be big kids. I don't think that they ate very much, but they really had a lot of fun together. Tomorrow night Tucker has a graduation party at one of his classmate's house. I will post more aboout it once we get back home tomorrow.
This preschool graduation stuff is SERIOUS business!

Graduation 2008

This evening my little man graduated from his preschool. It was a full blown graduation ceremony complete with hats, gowns, tassels, and yes, even a photostory shown on the big screen. We had kids singing songs and reciting poetry. A real first class place! :0) I will post a few pictures and upload a video this weekend when I get a little more time. Tucker was so excited about this whole graduation process and somehow got it in his head that today was the last day he had to be at his school. Sorry little man, but you really have a few more weeks!

Red Velvet Pupcakes

I thought that Tucker and I would bake some cupcakes on Monday evening once we finally made it in from swimming. This would be a good evening activity to keep him busy and give us something to do together. I gave him the choice between cupcakes (pupcakes as he calls them) or chocolate chip cookies. He decided on pupcakes, so that is the direction we went. I had been thinking about Sprinkles Red Velvet cupcakes and almost drove to Dallas to buy some, so that is what we tried to make.

Here is Tucker helping me mix the batter. Red Velvet cake batter always looks a bit gross before cooking, but it sure is yummy!

So, I had a little bit of helping mixing and cleaning the bowl. But, the best part was frosting the pupcakes and eating them. I think Tucker had about 4 cupcakes throughout the evening once dinner was over.

Weekend through Tucker's eyes

I thought I would ask Tucker about his trip and type what he said as he talked about his trip. Here goes the Q & A...

  1. Tell about the rides at the Schlitterbahn.
Some of the rides were closed, but no one told me why. I rode the Black Night. I thought that it was so scary at first, but then wanted to ride it over and over. The wave pool was pretty good. I would like to go back, but with you, daddy, and me as a family.
  2. What did you think of the University of Texas campus? It was ok. You had to walk a lot on the campus AND I tripped and fell because of a crack in the sidewalk. I didn't like that at all! I scraped my knee and my elbow. That was the worst. The football stadium was awesome. That is where your Longhorns play football, right mama?
  3. How was your day at Six Flags?
Six Flags was good. I took a picture with Bugs Bunny and Scooby Doo. That was good. Some of the rides were scary, like so scary that I almost cried. But, then I got on them and they were fun. I am ready to go back there, too. Maybe we can go to the one in Arlington this summer. That would be good, right mama?

Tucker was really tired when he got home, but we still have a great Monday afternoon playing outside, swimming, and grilling steaks for Memorial Day. I was REALLY glad to see my guys on Monday when they finally arrived.

Newsflash

Tucker and John left on the bus at 5:45 this morning. The bus was a big white coach bus. I should have taken a picture, but forgot my phone or camera. Hopefully I can get John to get a picture of it sometime this weekend. All I know is that Tucker was really excited to see that there seems to be more girls than boys who loaded on the bus.

After dropping them off, I came home and finally went back to sleep. Tucker just called me to tell me, "Mama, we just drove by your Texas Longhorn stadium!" It is nice to know that he is thinking of me. Good to know that they have made it safely to Austin. I can't wait to hear about their day at the Schlitterbahn later today.

How to Cry

I couldn't help myself and starting crying when I hugged Tucker goodbye before he got on the bus. I tried to be a big girl, but I don't know if it was the extra tight hug he gave me or when he said "you know I will miss you more than you will miss me." When I let go of him, he looked at me and asked, "Mama, are you crying?" As I was wiping the tears from my face with a tissue that I brought, he said to me,"Tissues are ok, but you can also wipe tears with your shirt (as he raises the collar of the shirt up over his eyes to demonstrate), or the back of your hand (once again a demonstration of him wiping his face with the back of his hand." What would I do without my little teacher? :0)

Memorial Day Weekend

Well I am blogging at 4:00 AM just because I can't sleep (which is most nights). In about an hour, I am sending my guys off on a vacation without me. They are going with the high school choir kids to Schlitterbahn, a choir contest at UT, and to Fiesta Texas. While I am sad to see them go, I know that they will have a great time and be back with me before I know it. Tucker has told me many times over the past few days how much he will miss me. He just melts my heart every time he says it. As hard as I will try, I am sure that I will shed a few tears watching them get on the bus without me. (Yes, they are riding on a charter bus WITH the choir kids!) Looking at the schedule, Tucker will be worn out by the time I see him again on Monday. Hurry back T....I already miss you!

I will miss them both dearly, but I have my own set up plans....While my boys are gone, I just plan to do a lot of whatever I want to do! I have a pedicure scheduled and I am going home for a few hours to help my aunt and uncle celebrate their 55 year wedding anniversary. I am sure that I will do some laundry and clean up the house. I also would like to start staining my kitchen cabinets, but now that I am writing about it, I am losing interest. In my mind, I have lots of things on my "to do" list, but more than likely I will end up on my couch with the remote in my hand. I just hope that there is some good TV on this weekend!

First Swim in the Pool this year!

After our evening with the fish and ducks, Tucker and John decided that the water in our pool was just right for swimming. It is still too cold for me, but they are just a little bit crazy! This was the first swim in our pool for the year. Tucker has so much fun jumping in the pool and chasing his daddy in the water. Willy the dog, wasn't exactly sure what they were doing, but he stood by watching, chasing them, and barking, which I am sure pleased our neighbors. I think I have said it before, but my little man is the happiest in water! (He makes due in the colder months of the year by splashing around in the bathtub.) This is just the beginning of our summer fun when we spend our time outside swimming, having parties, and grilling out by the pool. Good times!

Bloggr

I just figured out that I can now blog on the go and post using my phone. I know...a little behind with this blogging stuff, but I am slowly getting there. Although pictures from my iphone are not the best, this will be great for all the things that we do with Tucker and don't have a camera with us. Sometimes it is best to blog "in the moment"! Looking forward to sharing with you soon!

Fish Tales

So we decide to go eat at a restaurant on the lake for dinner tonight. We like to go there when it gets warmer just to eat outside and watch the big boats driving in and out of the docks. It is a very busy place with people coming and going constantly.

The restaurant is on a dock and you are always watching ducks, geese, and other birds all around you. There is this one little area between the docks where people feed the fish (catfish I think). There are so many huge fish in this one area just waiting to get fed. After Tucker eats, he loves to feed the fish and ducks. You can buy a sack of food for $.25. Take a peek at the pictures of the feeding of the fish. It is rather disgusting, but such good times for my little man! Click on the fish pictures to get a really good look at how big and how many fish you see!

I can handle it

John is a planner. On the weekends, he wakes up and wants to know what the plan is for the day. I was downstairs starting the laundry and cleaning the kitchen when I heard him talking to Tucker on the stairs. He was listing what all they could do together today...

  1. Eat breakfast at Whataburger
  2. Go see a student play 7 on 7 football.
  3. Go see another group of golf kids play in a dodgeball tourny.
  4. Get a haircut
  5. Plant a tree to replace our dead tree in the front yard
  6. Go to a friend's house to swim.

Tucker seemed to like this Saturday plan. He gets this dead serious look on his face and says, "I can handle it, daddy!" I just busted out laughing just because he was so cute saying it and he really meant it.

Happy Mother's Day

Tucker and I decided to spend Mother's Day with my mom and dad at the lake. John was going to spend most of the weekend golfing, so he stayed at home. We drove to their lake house on Friday afternoon. We had such beautiful weather on Saturday and Tucker couldn't wait to put on his bathing suit and go swimming. After spending the morning cleaning the boat, we took it out on the lake. There were several other boaters on the lake, so we weren't the only crazy ones out there.

Tucker couldn't wait to get into the water and swim. I thought that it was too cold for me, but he dove right in (with a lifejacket on...we are at the lake after all!) We didn't have enough toys out, so dad also unloaded the jet ski. There is really nothing Tucker likes better than to swim, boat, and jet ski on the lake with his grandparents. Just give this child some water and sand to play with and he is the happiest kid on earth. Good times!

Girls Rule, Boys ROCK!

Tucker and I were driving home today from preschool. Evidently one of his girl classmates had on a "Girls Rule, Boys drool" t-shirt and it was really bothering him. He was telling me about it and then said, "that isn't very nice is it, mama?" I just told him that sometimes some things we see bothers us. (Not a good reply, I know, but couldn't think of anything better on the fly!) Using my "teacher" skills, I decided to ask him, "If you could redo that shirt, what would you say?" Tucker replied without any hesitation, "Girls Rule, Boys ROCK!" Well put, Little Man, I couldn't have said it better myself.
